oliver twist is a very famous novel written by dickens, a famous british writer.

oliver, an orphan, grew up in a poorhouse and has been discriminated against. he escaped to london because he could not bear to be abused. he went into a den of thieves by mistake and was scolded and beaten. i dont know how much he suffered in the process of growing up. although growing up in such an environment, he has a kind heart. no matter how much he suffers, his determination to do bad things is the biggest. he is blessed and will never forget to thank his benefactor. but the people in the bandit group still did not let him go, and his half brother also wanted to kill him. olivers fate is tragic, but he was helped by good people to find out his life experience and obtain the heritage. finally, his fate has been changed and he is expected to become a useful person to the society.

作为一名翻硕毕业的研究生,在学校时就反反复复被老师推荐的一本书是 joan pinkham所著的《中式英语之鉴》。这本书也是北京外国语大学研究生考试的指定参考书目之一。所以同学们无论是从想考研去学习的角度上来说还是从自己想提升自己的英文表达能力或翻译水平来说,读这本书都是很有帮助的。

这本书主要讲了中文翻译成英语一些常见的错误,这些错误还是我们从未认识到的,由作者这样一个母语为英语的人指出更加的确切。在指出这些错误的过程中作者也揭示了英文本身的特点和优势。书中所最为提倡的是英语的简明性。也就是要比较直接,简单并且清晰的表达出来含义。说的通俗一些就是要遵循的第一个原则是把不必要的含有重复意义的单词和成分都去掉,不要啰嗦。比如在英语里面不要说加快经济发展的脚步或者速度,只需要说加快经济发展就可以了。因为重复含义的词多了反而会模糊句子的主干,导致表意不清晰。在这里给大家举几个例子,就像作者在文中提出的:

1,应该去掉那些不表实际含义的虚词。如: a series of,the key to,the work of …等等。

2,应该把一些不需要的修饰也去掉。比如truly,fairly等。

3,应该去掉不必要的重复,因为这样作者真的有意使用重复的词来表示强调时才会引起足够的重视。

接着的一个原则是尽可能的体现出来句子成分之间的关系。在这本书中,作者不赞成大家在中译英的时候用名词去修饰名词。因为这样会使得句子结构变模糊,最好用一些形容词,介词短语或者分词机构来修饰。比如personnel and materials transfer center 就没有center for the transfer of personnel and materials 好理解。因为有这样一个原则所以在翻译中要修饰核心名词时,作者重点强调了要注意词与词之间的位置和距离,近一些就比较好容易找到不会产生歧义。另外如果能够将句式多列成排比或者并列的也会帮助读者来理解,因为这种逻辑关系是比较明显的。

遵循了作者所说的这些原则就能使得译文比较简洁,目标还是在于译者所说的话能让听众更加容易听的明白。虽然这些原则比较简短,但是只知道还是远远不够的。可以先把书中的举例和理论部分掌握熟练彻底理解之后再在实践中不断的进行练习的打磨进而精进。也希望大家在整个翻译的过程中能慢慢领悟到其真谛!

《中式英语之鉴》读书笔记

因为对于翻译这门手艺充满了憧憬,就买了一堆北外上外考研指定用书回家研究,中式英语之鉴就是其中一本,读完有些思考想跟大家唠唠。平卡姆老师在这本书中用的英语不是很难,单词平均难度在专四和专八之间,过了专四或者六级的人看应该会比较有收获,在“学习区”内,所以推荐一下这本书。

作者写中式英语之鉴是为了纠正一些中国人运用英语时错误的不地道的表达,那么首先要回答的问题是什么是正宗的英语。

在这本书中所倡导的正宗的英语无疑指的是简明英语,特点是”direct, simple and clear”。

“简明英语是由查尔斯·凯·奥格登发明的只有少量单词的英语,他的书简明英语规则和语法的一般约定里对此有所描述。

奥格登说过:学习英语要七年,学习世界语要七个月,而学习简明英语只要七周。简明英语用于公司在国际上使用的书籍,短期内对学生进行基本英语教学。

奥格登不使用重复意义的单词,而且需要所有国家都适用这些单词。他利用大规模的测试和调整来得到这些词汇。在语法方面,他也做了简化,但是保留了英语通常的用法。”

在后面的发展中,简明英语在商务英语和法律英语上有了长足发展。简明英语无疑很适合用在商业上;而法律英语为了保证条款的确定性和权威性,一般冗长复杂,如一个含义要用两个甚至三个同义词来表示,在现在重视效率的社会渐渐向简明方向发展不足为奇。

但是这里我们要清楚一个语言是在不断成长和变化的,中古英语和现代英语自然是有诸多不同,而且每个人的风格也不同。在我看来简明英语的诸多规则只能算作是一种风格,一种在近代社会被提倡的风格。而我们在翻译或者写作时应依具体文本的需求和受众的需求适用不同的风格,而不是倡导每种文本都用一个风格。口语和书面语明显不同,书面语中,用途不同时风格也应做相应的改变。

比如文学和非文学就有很多区别,文学讲究陌生化,要得就是一种朦胧的,”transparent”的感觉,才能让自己的文字更引人遐想有更多解释空间,而非文学为了交流方便,自然不会太晦涩难懂。非文学中又可以分很多类,商务性文本、法律性文本、政治性文本。比如政治性文本,你的翻译是为了让英语国家的人明白,就要模仿英语国家中的政治性文本的写法。但翻译这种文本的一个困境是:译者害怕丢失一个词就丢失了一个意义,不敢随意添加修改,所以偏向直译。其实也是很无奈。

一个语言中什么说法能不能用要取决于大多数人是怎么说的,因为你的目的是让大多数受众明白。比如clinch现在虽然被认为是不符合语法,但有些时代中因为大家都这么说,所以当时是可以接受的。所以这种情况下,”non native speaker” 就很吃亏,因为没有大环境让你了解其他人都在怎么说。

我认为在这里,中式英语中最应该摒弃的无疑是you can you up这类说法。当然这个是有点太low了,相信有点英文素养的人都不会犯。接下来要摒弃的就是不常见说法,也就是本书中part one所强调要纠正的。然后对于part two中少用名词多用动词、少用被动多用主动这类型风格类的倾向,我认为就要依文本需求和受众需求来定了,如果一个文本十分正式,翻译的很直白自然也是不合适的。

the main character our little prince live on a planet named b612 acpany with there volcanoes an a rose who falls in love with him but can not understand each other.consequencely,he leave his planet and his endless travelling.during this period,he e across a diversity of people. from these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd.then he enter earth and found thousands of roses alike.the little prince discovers thathis rose is notthe only ,plenty of her kind are everywhere, but then he realizes that his rose is special "because it is she that i have watered; because it is she that i have put under the glass globe; because it is she that i have sheltered behind the screen" . then he fall across the fox. she teaches the prince "it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye ".

what impresses me the most is the foxs words.love is a strange stuff.sometimes we see it but cant grasp it.yet, true love may be, to some extent, invisible in surface but may last permanent.apart from love, others as well.indeed,sometimes what we consider right turn out to be wrong,what we consider real proves fictitious,what we confused may just turn out to be the truth.the path in searching for truth may long and time-consuming,we should harbour conviction,strong will and high hope.no matter what barriade in front of us,we ought to be couragous and face up to the challenge.

我是一名小学英语教师,通过这次对新课程标准的学习,明白了《英语新课程标准》小学阶段英语课程的总目标,同时还明白新课程标准在教学理念、课程目标、教学内容、教学手段、策略与评价等方面有了新的改革与创新,体现了我国教育教学与时代的发展新趋势和英语学科的特点,读《小学英语新课标》心得体会。此次学习使我受益匪浅,对小学英语教学有了更深刻的理解和认识。一句话,顺应教育改革发展潮流,当一名合格的小学英语教师。达到教书育人的目的。

反复学习新课程标准理念,深刻领会英语课程的要求。我们要学习把握新课程标准的理念,目标和内容。小学英语教学属于英语启蒙教育,学生通过听、说、动唱、玩具备一定的语言基础。并获得初步的听说能力和一定的语感。基于小学生的心理特点,以及新课标的要求,小学英语教学应该以提高兴趣为主。

一、激发学生学习英语的兴趣

兴趣是最好的老师,学生只有对英语有浓厚的兴趣才会愿意学,要让学生有兴趣,我们首先得让学生感到英语易学,其次让学生乐学,最后培养学生的自学能力,培养他们对英语学习的积极态度。使他们建立初步的学习英语的自信心。

二、教学方式

依据新课标的要求,新教材的教学必须根据小学生的学习特点,创建以活动课为主的教学模式。重点培养学生用语言进行交流的能力。采用听、说、唱、玩、演的方式对于零起点的农村的学生来说,我认为要尽可能让他们多听地道的英语,语言介绍宜采用先输入后输出的方式。

即尽可能让学生多听,运用听觉记忆,使他们用第一语言做出反应,在课堂实际教学中如何进行操作呢?例如,教文具单词时,以前教师大部分采用这样的方法:look at the picture and read after

me。出示图片,学生跟读。现在新教材要求在just listen这一步时教师出示图片,反复示范发音,让学生静听,使他们处在听觉记忆的过程中,然后可以把图片朝下,打乱顺序,由教师本人抽出一张,做猜谜游戏,教师问:pencil? is it a pencil?学生只要回答yes或no即可,这一步学生仍然是听,并用第一语言作出反应。

即学生在听的过程中指一指,找一找,做出相应的动作,这一阶段他们运用的是形体或运动记忆,心得体会《读《小学英语新课标》心得体会》如listen and point/colour/number/circle/check。也就是教师发指令,学生动一动,例如在教数字时,教师快速报数字,学生做出手势,再把数字卡片发给学生,按照老师的口令排顺序,我们还可以设计这样的游戏:在教室前放几把椅子,让手持数字卡片的学生坐在椅子上,教师报出两个数字,手持这两个数字的学生尽快更换位置,教师也可参与进去抢座位,这样,形体记忆在这一阶段得到发挥。

即学生先听再重复,这时他们运用的是短期记忆,也就是跟读学说的过程,如在教对话时,教师放录音学生边听边看,继续放录音,学生听替换进对话里的新单词,边听,边说,就属于这一过程,在教句型时,由于不讲语法,我们可以教学生唱语法歌,教材中配有相应的语法歌。

在这一阶段学生能够开始用英语说话,这时他们运用的是长时记忆,他们可以用英语选择他们会说的,每个学生都会有成功的愉悦。例如,教食物bread,ice—cream…和句型i like …,i don’t like…可采用开放式教学,让他们自由选择所知道的食物来说出喜欢吃的和不喜欢吃的,有的学生就会说出,sandwish,salad…这样能使学生感到成功增加他们的自信心。

在这一阶段学生能说出他们所学的内容,甚至能脱口而出,这是长期记忆起着作用。在这一步中,可让学生表演,自由对话,复述故事,同时教师不必急于纠正学生语言表现中的错误,要让学生有安全感,并积极主动地学习外语。鼓励学生积极参与,大胆表达使学生从动脑、动口、积极思维参与教学活动。如低年级学生可灵活处理教材内容,将其编成儿歌、童谣。课堂中多采用游戏教学法,加上教师灵活亲切的身体语言,使得课堂丰富多彩、轻松活跃。培养学生能在图片、手势的帮助下,听懂语速较慢的话语或录音材料。

三、创设情景

用自己充满激情的表情和动作去感染学生,让学生积极的参与到学习中来。变被动学习为主动学习,创设情景,相互交流,启发学习动机,树立学习信心。直观情景教学是小学英语教学之中一种很重要的教学技巧。教师要充分利用教科书中的课文来创设情景,如打电话、购物、生日聚会、旅游、问路等。为学生提供使用英语进行交流的机会。

通过新课标的学习,我们迎接了新理念新考验新挑战。我们只要大胆运用新理念、新方法到课堂实践中。努力落实新课标。就会探出一条用好新教材的新路子。
